Asking the Bridesmaids

Where we last left off, I was determined to ask my friends to be bridesmaids in a special, surprising way.  I had a few details secured, and asking them was next up on my to-do list!

Even though there are a lot of great options, I decided that simple, handwritten cards in the wedding colors would be best for me.  I used this design from Wedding Chicks for my cards.  It's simple to use, and has plenty of colors to pick from.  Actually, it was while designing my cards that I settled on our wedding colors - teal, dark purple, and champagne.  I was playing around with a few other combos and I didn't like how they came out in the print, but I love how these did. I used "Grape Jelly" for the text and "Tiffany Blue" for the scroll.

Will you be my bridesmaid? - The Inspiration

In thinking about our wedding day, it was always a given that I would have a bridal party.  A lot of couples nowadays opt out of it, due to hassle and the drama that it brings.  But I definitely wanted my best and dearest friends to stand up with me at the church and make sure that the party keeps popping at the reception (side bar: Sphinx keeps making fun of me for using the word "popping" to describe our reception..I must make sure to point this out to him when the party is, in fact, popping that night).  And who doesn't want to play photo shoot with their girls during the day?

First Things, First..Style

Before we get into all the nitty-gritty details of the Pryamid wedding planning, it's time to talk about something from the very beginning: theme.  Early on we started forming our ideas, and it helped narrow down our search and guided all of the decision making.  But the paradox here is that you don't know what kind of wedding you want without doing some research and work first.  But still, at the top of pretty much every "You're Engaged - What to do Now??" list is to determine your "theme."

On second thought, can we scratch the word "theme"? It brings up thoughts of this./Source: Back to the Future Wikia

So let's discuss the style or vibe or motif of the wedding. What kind of party are we throwing? There are so many weddings options - modern, classic, elegant, tropical, rustic, casual, romantic, big, small, intimate,  religious, secular, magical, polka dot, rainbow...ok, you get it. Deciding on a type of wedding early on is obviously important, but highly overwhelming.

How did we muddle through it?  We started with a list of all of the "givens" and looked at where that left us.
