Leaving Your Mark

I never got around to talking about plans for a guest book, because it was yet another one of the items left until the last minute, even though I always had it figured out.

Here's the inspiration:

From a site called teardropweddings.com which looks to be inactive now.

This picture is the very first item on my wedding Pinterest board.  So I was pretty set on the idea of a thumbprint guest book print right from the beginning.  Sphinx and I attended a wedding a few months before we got engaged that included a thumbprint tree for the guest book.  It turned out nicely and the biggest concern (getting my fingers inky while dressed up), wasn't really a problem because they provided baby wipes.

The Effort List

So when I finally freed myself from the clutches of wedding plans that just weren't gonna happen, what was I spending my time and effort doing the week of the wedding?

Anything and everything, pretty much.

Something I know about myself: I work best under pressure.  Which is the nice way to describe a chronic procrastinator.   This did not change one lick because I was getting married.  So with a burst of "under pressure" adrenaline (and the Memorial Day holiday falling the Monday before the wedding), we were able to finalize a few things that had been sitting on the Wedding Wire checklist for months.  These are their stories.  (dun dun!)

When I scrapped one of the cutest ideas I've ever had - Game of Thrones chair signs - I knew that I still wanted to have something to hang on the chairs at our sweetheart table.  So I recycled the second cutest idea I've ever had (ranking system debatable) - our signs from the engagement pictures!

Pulled our cute Geaux Tigers signs out of retirement!/

I stapled on some ribbon left over from invitation making, and boom - chair signs! No reason not to reuse some props.  I know I saw our videographer grabbing some footage of this at some point in the night, so I'm glad we included the cute little detail, but also glad I didn't stress too hard about it.

The Eff It List

It's been a whole month, hive, and I've missed you so!  But I really owed it to myself (and that new husband of mine), to take some time and get our life in order.  I'm caught back up at work and the house doesn't look like a UPS sorting room in December anymore, so I figured it was time to pull out the computer and catch up before the pro pics arrive.

I feel bad starting back off on such a negative note as the "eff it" list, but hear me out.  My point here is "eff it" does not equal "giving up."
It's not "Screw my guests, I just don't care anymore, is this thing done yet?"  It's more like "There are things that need to be done, there is only so much time to do it - what's the priority here?"

Would a better name be the "Let it Go" list?

And lo and behold, I didn't feel like a failure when I said "eff it." It was just a wave of relief each time, and I don't regret not following through with some of my planned ideas.
