Wedding Theming: Chandelier Obsessed

As it so often happens in wedding planning, brides (and grooms!) have to become concerned with details about which they have very little concern.  So many people ask about them, and apparently the answer "I just don't care what kind of glassware we use at the reception," is not a sufficient answer.  You must have an opinion!
But in some cases, as a bride, you're able to actually relate a real life obsession with a wedding detail.  Of course there are plenty of things that we consider important - the food, drinks, music, and making sure our bridal party members look like movie stars.  However my decorating obsession for the wedding - and in real life - are chandeliers.
I swooned when I saw that Mrs. Lyre was able to have that incredible chandelier.  And Mrs. Camel's chandelier hanging from the tree! Amazing!  And who hasn't seen this picture on Pinterest?

This pic is so many things, but the chandelier gets my heart fluttering!
And I would love to be able to see this someday

While my house is lacking a certain Versailles-like quality that prevents such chandeliers from working, I did incorporate this beauty last year from West Elm:

So, case in point, I am chandelier obsessed. So pretty, so elegant, and those are my wedding inspiration buzz words!  So, here it is - the hotel with the most gorgeous chandeliers in New Orleans, Le Pavillon:

Oh wait, this is not our venue!  A gorgeous lobby and stunning hotel, but the price and ballroom didn't add up right for us.  We moved on to find ourselves a different venue...

As it turns out, the venue we picked has a complete lack of chandeliers.  Was this a concern when we booked it? Not at all. Am I going to do something about it? I sure will try!
This couple's wedding at our venue was absolutely stunning (and looked like a BLAST). And of course you know what drew my attention first:

CHANDELIERS in the TREES!
Once I saw this photo, there was no turning back.  I must have chandeliers for the trees.  I have declared it the one thing that I am going to be ridiculous and unnecessary about.  So the question is - buy or rent? The chandeliers I have found to rent are $300 each.  There are 4 trees in the courtyard.  Even if I only do 2 trees, that is a CHUNK of change. And I kind of despise renting things...

The benefit of decorating your wedding with style elements that you, you know, actually like "in real life" is that you can repurpose them for later.  I've considered buying 2-3 chandeliers for this purpose, and I think that is the way we will go.  There are reasonably priced ones at Home Depot and Overstock, and I will be cashing in some credit card points for gift cards soon.  I know I would reuse one in my closet or bathroom, and maybe the guest room.  Or I could always sell.  We're working on who and how we will set these up, but that's a discussion for another time.

For now, let's take a look at some of the other awesome chandelier inspired items that seem to be making their way into my wedding planning.

Of course, chandelier earrings! I'm loving some like this from Etsy with pearls.

I also love details like chandelier silhouettes on the invitations, especially if it's in a beautiful metallic or letterpress.

And what goes better when a chandelier paper set, than a matching wax seal?

Seriously, how cool are these? Photo from Etsy Shop BacktoZero?

All this said, I am trying to stay logical about my want for chandeliers at the wedding. If they are too much trouble or money, I will have to let the dream go.
Do you think it'd be weird to have a chandelier invitation set without any chandeliers at the reception? Would guests really notice?
Do you have a ridiculous and unnecessary wedding splurge?
