Pyramid Invitations: You are Cordially Invited

Oh, hey there, have you grabbed your mail today? Well go check again, I think there's something there for you!

Well, what do you know?  It's the Pyramid wedding invitation, addressed to a super special couple!

On the front you'll the name and address are written in calligraphy (can one say that the addresses are calligraffitied?), and the postage is a hand-canceled, wedding flowers stamp.

Flipping it over, you'll see printed Momma and Daddy P's return address, along with Sphinx's favorite detail.

The red got some cool traces of gold in it, since we used the same gun after all the gold seals were made.  Very Lannister-esque, right?

Break for a humorous (to me) conversation:

Pyramid: "Let's order purple as well as gold sticks, then we can mix it up and it'll be so cute!"
Sphinx: "You mean the wax? Wax is red."
P: "What? Since when is red a wedding color?"
S: "All the historical documents of all time were sealed with red wax."
P: "Wedding colors trump historical documents."
S: "Wax seals are always red."
P: "We're talking about the wedding invites."
S: "Check the movies."
P: "Wedding invites."
S: "Red."

Don't judge me too hard, I'd been playing around with the PowerPoint mockup of our invites for days, and was colorblind toward anything that wasn't ivory, gold, teal, purple, or taupe.  So we ended up getting all three colors, and we made sure to use the the reds for friends that would appreciate the historical accuracy.  All of them turned out well!

Also, I have checked with guests on both ends of the country, and seals have been arriving still affixed to the envelopes.  Hooray for hand canceling and the nice employees at my hometown post office who took the time on these!

Alright, moving on to actually opening the envelope: you will find yet another envelope.

And once you open that you will see...

Ooh, a pop of gold!
Inside the envelope is a bundle secured with a purple satin ribbon, and a little card all too familiar to anyone who hangs around Wedding Bee frequently.

Sliding off the ribbon reveals three separate inserts and a small envelope.

To blur this makes me so sad, but I left as much text as I could.

The text reads:
Mr. and Mrs. Pyramid Dad
Joyfully Request the Honor of Your Presence
At the Nuptial Mass Forever Uniting Their Daughter

The reception details card is my favorite of the set, since I was able to incorporate our chandelier into the design.  It makes sense, since that's where the chandeliers will be!

Can you detect the bit of shimmer on the chandelier? It came out so much prettier than I could have ever imagined!

And finally we have the RSVP card with a teal, self-addressed, stamped envelope, using a wedding rose stamps, leftover from our save the dates.

Let's put it all together and see what we've got!

Fully armed and operational battle station - er, wedding invitation!

Check out that pop of teal!

To summarize, the suite consisted of the outer and inner envelopes with calligraphy, wax seals with our initials, polka-dotted envelope liners on the inners, an invitation card, a reception card, a response card with teal envelope, a purple ribbon to tie it altogether, and a Mini Moo card with our wedding website on the back.  I did most of the design myself, and sent it to J to work her magic (AKA make it look nice and professional), and they sent the cards out to print.  The calligraphy was done by a family friend, and the rest was just assembly on our part.  Just assembly - so easy to say that now, right?  Honestly, it wasn't too bad because we were able to prep so many parts ahead of time, but it was a long process and I was very relieved to get them out the door.

As you can tell from the excessive amounts of pictures, I am thrilled with the result!  Oh, and I just got a new lens on my camera, so I was having fun playing around with that too! I hope the pictures don't look too weird, I'm still getting used to it.

Next up we'll chat about the products we used and how the prices all worked out.  Spoiler: it was way cheaper than going with the invitation store!  I'm also planning to share some details on the design and wording, along with some how-to's.  If there's anything specific you want to know about, leave a question here so I can make sure to address it in one of those posts.

What do you say, hive, do you accept your invite?
